Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (May 13, 2016)

Welcome to this week's Inbox.  For those that have recently discovered us, Inbox is our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our email inbox. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday.

Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information.  Here is this week's news that caught our eyes ...

________

Bell's
One of the UK's best selling whiskies has released a special bottling to celebrate The Queen's recent 90th birthday.  The Bell's Royal Birthday Decanter is limited edition and is in keeping with the brand's 30 year history of commemorating significant Royal occasions and events.  The decanters are made from ceramic by leading ceramics producer Wade and are presented with a Royal blue sash and gold leaf pin of Arthur Bell, the brand's founder.  There are just 1,000 decanters available and they will be priced at £80 each from specialist whisky retailers.

English Whisky Co.
The English Whisky Company have announced the release of a very limited single malt.  It is the latest in the Founder's Private Cellar collection, which sees special casks releases occasionally.  The latest is Cask #365, which was distilled in December 2010 and was bottled in March 2016.  Unusually for The English Whisky Co it has been through a 'double maturation' - first filled to ex-bourbon cask and then transferred to a virgin oak cask for some time.  It has been bottled at 59.7% ABV and there are just 285 bottles.  The price is £175.  Cask #365 can be purchased now via www.englishwhisky.co.uk.

"It is a privilege to have these casks in our personal and private collection and whilst it is my job to ensure the collection is in good order for the next generation, I am always proud when a cask is deemed ideal for bottling."
Andrew Nelstrop - Owner of The English Whisky Co.

Glengoyne

The southern Highland single malt brand of Glengoyne, which is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, has revealed new packaging and labelling for its core range of whiskies.  The new designs have been created to allow the brand to stand out from competitors on shop shelving and the 10 and 12 year old expressions are the first to be introduced.

"At Glengoyne we are passionate about offering consumers a high-quality premium product and our packaging changes reflect our strong vision. It’s clear that strong, eye-catching packaging makes a difference when consumers choose their whisky and we’re delighted with the changes we’ve made."
Iain Weir - Marketing Director at Ian Macleod Distillers.
